Student Organization Awards

Mary B. Coburn Organization of the Year

To honor recognized student organizations at FSU that have been responsible for major contributions to the University community or constituent groups in the areas of service and leadership.

Criteria:

The recipient of this award must have demonstrated the following:

  • A positive impact throughout the FSU and surrounding community through innovative programming
  • An exemplary commitment to the organization's mission and values as well as the core values of FSU--Vires, Artes, Mores
  • Contributions to further enhance the Seminole spirit of tradition
  • Have not previously received this award within the past four years
  • Good standing with the Student Activities Center (i.e. currently recognized and absent of disciplinary issues)

Vires Award

Criteria:

The recipient of this award must have demonstrated the following:

  • Exemplary perseverance and resiliency in overcoming organizational challenges and obstacles
  • The ability to retain and engage members towards a common purpose that aligns with the mission and values of the organization
  • Creation of a lasting legacy in the FSU community
  • Have not previously received this award within the past four years
  • Good standing with the Student Activities Center (i.e. currently recognized and absent of disciplinary issues)

Artes Award

Criteria:

The recipient of this award must have demonstrated the following:

  • Exemplary commitment towards civic education at FSU or the surrounding community
  • The ability to promote discourse amongst the FSU community
  • Have not previously received this award within the past four years
  • Good standing with the Student Activities Center (i.e. currently recognized and absent of disciplinary issues)

Mores Award

Criteria:

The recipient of this award must have demonstrated the following:

  • Exemplary commitment towards collaboration with members of the campus community
  • Exemplary commitment towards fostering a supportive environment
  • Outstanding contributions to the Seminole Tradition
  • Have not previously received this award within the past four years
  • Good standing with the Student Activities Center (i.e. currently recognized and absent of disciplinary issues)

Connection Award

Awarded to ONE student and ONE organization who have demonstrated the following:

Criteria:

  • Active involvement by engaging community and campus resources
  • Understanding of the organization’s impact on the FSU community
  • Hosting and participating in activities that encourage an inclusive and safe environment
  • Bridge the gap between students, faculty, staff, and alumni

Belonging Award

Awarded to ONE student and ONE organization who have demonstrated the following:

Criteria:

  • Develop pride by increasing levels of involvement
  • Understand and practice steps of effective programming
  • Demonstrate emotional intelligence
  • Develop relationships and collaborations within various organizations
  • Understand their own identities and those of their communities and be able to articulate the benefits of a diverse society

Evolve Award

Awarded to ONE student and ONE organization who have demonstrated the following:

Criteria:

  • Uphold mindfulness, respect, and accountability when engaging with any community
  • Develop critical and reflective thinking abilities
  • Use complex information from a variety of sources including personal, data and observation to form a decision or opinion
  • Apply previously understood information and concepts to a new situation or setting
  • Utilize personnel and financial resources appropriately
  • Articulate the rationale for one’s behavior, assume responsibility for personal conduct, and respond appropriately to conflict

Impact Award

Awarded to ONE student and ONE organization who have demonstrated the following:

Criteria:

  • Relate the skills acquired through their involvement to their career & personal growth
  • Measure service and impact of their programs on the student body
  • Construct socially just actions to advocate for marginalized communities
  • Create programs that promote professional development activities for the FSU student body at large
  • Promote wellness habits to the student body and surrounding community
