President's Award
Awarded to ONE outstanding freshman student who has demonstrated service to the University and shows potential for future leadership success.
Criteria:
- Currently enrolled student at FSU
- Have been at FSU for no more than three semesters and a maximum earned 30 hours
- Have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above
- Demonstrate service and leadership to the University
- Possess characteristics for future leadership success
Bob E. Leach Award
Awarded to ONE outstanding student who is known not only for exemplary leadership and service to the University, but also for the caring and sharing attitude exhibited through their service.
Criteria:
- Currently enrolled at FSU
- Have been a student at FSU for at least two semesters
- Be in good academic standing
- Have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 for undergraduate students; 3.0 for graduate students
- Demonstrate a caring attitude through leadership in activities that have benefited the lives of others
- Have not previously received this award
Sean A. Pittman Award
Awarded to ONE student who has demonstrated outstanding leadership and dedication to the study body, university, and community with significant contributions to the welfare and support of African-American students.
Criteria:
- Currently enrolled at FSU
- Have been a student at FSU for at least two semesters
- Be in good academic standing
- Have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 for undergraduate students; 3.0 for graduate students
- Demonstrate service to the student body, university, and community with an emphasis on support and contributions to the African-American population
- Have not previously received this award
J.R. Harding Award
Awarded to ONE student who has demonstrated outstanding leadership abilities and exceptional persistence in achieving educational goals while overcoming personal obstacles.
Criteria:
- Currently enrolled at FSU
- Be in good academic standing
- Have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 for undergraduate students; 3.0 for graduate students
- Demonstrate persistence in the pursuit of higher education while rising above personal difficulties
- Have not previously received this award
Student Seminole Award
Awarded to between eight and ten students who have made special contributions to the University in the areas of leadership and service.
Criteria:
- Currently enrolled at FSU
- Have been a student at FSU for at least two semesters
- Have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above
- Demonstrate a special contribution to FSU in the areas of leadership and service through participation in campus activities
- Have not previously received this award
Dean of Students Award: The Dean's Cup
Awarded to a maximum of three students who have demonstrated a strong sense of commitment to the Seminole Creed: The eight tenets of the Seminole Creed include: Truthfulness, Respect, Excellence, Freedom of Speech and Inquiry, Diversity, Justice, Citizenship, and Discovery. Dedication and commitment to the values should be apparent through the actions of the nominee.
Criteria:
- Full–time undergraduate or graduate student at FSU
- Minimum 2.75 GPA for undergraduates and 3.25 GPA for graduate students
- Understanding of and commitment to the Seminole Creed and its eight tenets
- Demonstrated contribution to campus life and the community
- Strength of character
Transfer Student Leadership Award
Awarded to ONE outstanding transfer student who has demonstrated service to the University and shows potential for future leadership success
Criteria:
- Transfer student
- Currently enrolled student at FSU
- Have been at FSU for no more than three semesters and a maximum earned 30 hours at FSU
- Have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above
- Demonstrate service and leadership to the University
- Possess characteristics for future leadership success
Connection Award
Awarded to ONE student and ONE organization who have demonstrated the following:
Criteria:
- Active involvement by engaging community and campus resources
- Understanding of the organization’s impact on the FSU community
- Hosting and participating in activities that encourage an inclusive and safe environment
- Bridge the gap between students, faculty, staff, and alumni
Belonging Award
Awarded to ONE student and ONE organization who have demonstrated the following:
Criteria:
- Develop pride by increasing levels of involvement
- Understand and practice steps of effective programming
- Demonstrate emotional intelligence
- Develop relationships and collaborations within various organizations
- Understand their own identities and those of their communities and be able to articulate the benefits of a diverse society
Evolve Award
Awarded to ONE student and ONE organization who have demonstrated the following:
Criteria:
- Uphold mindfulness, respect, and accountability when engaging with any community
- Develop critical and reflective thinking abilities
- Use complex information from a variety of sources including personal, data and observation to form a decision or opinion
- Apply previously understood information and concepts to a new situation or setting
- Utilize personnel and financial resources appropriately
- Articulate the rationale for one’s behavior, assume responsibility for personal conduct, and respond appropriately to conflict
Impact Award
Awarded to ONE student and ONE organization who have demonstrated the following:
Criteria:
- Relate the skills acquired through their involvement to their career & personal growth
- Measure service and impact of their programs on the student body
- Construct socially just actions to advocate for marginalized communities
- Create programs that promote professional development activities for the FSU student body at large
- Promote wellness habits to the student body and surrounding community
